What Nod is — and what it is not

Nod is a proximity introduction tool. When you post a Nod, nearby people can see it and send you a connection request. If both sides say yes, you can chat. Nod does not vet, verify, or background-check anyone.

• Nod does not verify users' identities, ages, professions, or intentions.
• Nod does not conduct criminal record or sex-offender registry checks.
• Profile information may be inaccurate or misleading.
• Nod is not present at, and takes no responsibility for, any in-person meeting you arrange.

Connecting with and meeting strangers carries real-world risk. These guidelines help you reduce that risk.

Before you chat

• Trust your instincts. If someone makes you uncomfortable, block and report them immediately. You do not owe anyone an explanation.
• Look at their Nod and profile. Be sceptical of profiles with no photo, very little information, or intent that feels off.
• Keep personal details private for now. Your last name, home address, workplace, daily routine, and financial details should stay private until you trust the person.
• Never send money. Anyone who asks for money — for any reason — before you have met in person is a red flag. Nod will never ask you to send money to another user.

Before you meet in person

• Meet in a public place. A busy café, restaurant, or park. Do not meet at your home, their home, a hotel, or anywhere private for a first meeting.
• Tell someone. Share the name, photo, or profile of the person you are meeting — and where you are going — with a trusted friend or family member.
• Arrange your own transport. Drive yourself, take a taxi, or use public transport. Do not accept a lift from someone you have just met.
• Keep your phone charged. Make sure you can call or message someone if you need to.
• Meet during daylight. For a first meeting, daytime and busy venues reduce risk.
• Do not share your accommodation address. If you are visiting or travelling, do not share your hotel or where you are staying until you trust the person.
• Stay in control. Do not accept drinks you did not see poured. Do not use substances that impair your judgment.

During and after a meeting

• You can leave at any time, for any reason. You do not owe anyone your time or an explanation if you feel uncomfortable.
• Check in. Let a friend know you arrived safely, and again when you leave.
• Trust your gut. If something feels wrong, it probably is. Leave.
• Report anything that concerns you. Even after a meeting, if something happened or was said that concerned you, report it in the app or email us.

If something goes wrong

• Contact the police if you have experienced assault, theft, fraud, or any other crime. They are the right authority — not Nod.
• Report the user in the app so we can review and take action on the account. Tap their profile or use the Report option in Chat.
• Block the user to prevent further contact immediately.
• Email us: support@gonod.app with the subject "Safety report". We review safety reports within 24 hours. Include as much detail as you are comfortable sharing.

We take every safety report seriously. Depending on the severity, we may suspend or permanently ban the reported account and cooperate with law enforcement where required.

How to block and report in the app

• Nearby: swipe left on a Nod → Report
• Chat: open a conversation → use the Report option in the menu
• Profile: open a person's profile → Report

You can choose to block at the same time as reporting. Blocking removes the person from your feed and prevents further contact immediately.

Protecting your privacy on Nod

• Your exact location is never shown to other users on a map. Nearby matching uses proximity only.
• Your profile photo and name are visible to nearby users when you have an active Nod.
• Once you connect with someone, they can see the chat content you share.
• You can end a Nod at any time to stop being discoverable — Profile or the Nearby tab.
• You can delete your account at any time: Profile → Security → Delete Account.
